Jury reaches verdict, remains hung up on certain charges
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - A Grand Junction jury reached its verdict regarding the man who was shot by a Mesa County Sheriff’s deputy earlier this year. The jury found 25-year-old Emilio Cordova guilty of attempted second-degree assault, aggravated motor first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft used in commission of crime, and property damage more than $500, criminal mischief, felony menacing, and reckless driving.

The calendar, featuring high-quality photographs of the local area, also serves as the city's annual report. Travel alert: Red Mountain Pass partially closed Wednesday
SOUTHWEST COLORADO, USA (KJCT) - Winter maintenance is planned for Red Mountain Pass Wednesday, and the Colorado Department of Transportation says delays are expected. The construction work is planned to shut down the highway intermittently from 9 a.m. to to 12 p.m. Wednesday. CDOT says to prepare for multiple 30-minute delays throughout much of the morning. Travelers should plan for extra travel time if they are passing through the area during that time.

Jury deliberating case about suspect in deputy-involved shooting
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - A Grand Junction jury is deliberating the case involving a man who was shot by a Mesa County Sheriff’s deputy in January, 2023. 25-year-old Emilio Cordova is accused of trying to run deputies over with his car on Jan. 24, 2023. The initial arrest affidavit at the time stated Cordova, who was already serving time in jail, was out on prison work release. According to the affidavit, Cordova said had no intention of returning to the jail.

Procession for fallen Cortez officer tomorrow, expect detours
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - Cortez police Sgt. Michael Moran, who died in the line of duty Nov. 29, will be honored in Cortez on Wednesday. U.S. HWY 160 will be closed in downtown Cortez beginning at 7:45 a.m. During the procession U.S. highway 160 will be closed from East Roger Smith Avenue to South Elm Street for about two hours.
