Calif. man pleads guilty to decapitating grandmother and taking the head with him
SANTA ROSA, Calif. (TCD) -- A 25-year-old man pleaded guilty last week to killing and decapitating his grandmother, and taking the head with him when he fled. Sonoma County court records show Luis Aroyo-Lopez entered the plea June 4 to a count of murder with a penalty enhancement. He is scheduled to be sentenced June 27.
Windsor Cyclist Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run, Suspect in Custody
In a tragic incident on the night of June 10th, a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle in Windsor, California, the driver of which purportedly fled the scene. The collision, which occurred near Windsor Road and Vintage Greens Drive at around 11:00 p.m., was responded to by Windsor deputies and emergency medical personnel, who discovered the injured bicyclist, an adult male, by the side of the road. Due to the grievous nature of his wounds, which included severe injuries to his head, arms, and legs – the cyclist's current condition is reported to be critical, according to the Town of Windsor Police Department.

Crews quickly control vegetation fire burning east of Petaluma
Firefighters from multiple agencies were quickly able to knock down a vegetation fire burning east of Petaluma off Old Adobe Road, according to authorities.The Cal Fire Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit posted on X that units were at the scene shortly before 3 p.m.Cal Fire said additional air and ground resources have been dispatched to the incident, which includes three separate fires burning along the west side of the road backing into a field. Aerial footage of the fire showed ground crews were still at the scene at 3:45 p.m., but the fire had largely been extinguished.Authorities have temporarily closed Old Adobe Road. So far there has been no word regarding the cause of the fire.
