Families Continue to Protest Sussex County Tech High School's Proposed Program Cuts
SPARTA, NJ – For the second Saturday in a row, parents and students demonstrated outside of Sussex County Technical High School. This weekend the families were joined by Sparta Mayor Neill Clark and Councilman Dan Chiariello. The group is protesting the proposed budget that calls for three “shops” to be eliminated, leaving students to find new programs of study or return to their home district. Newton's Pine Street Park Gets a New Playground
NEWTON, NJ – Children of Newton will have some new options at the Pine Stree Park playground. Last week town officials had a ribbon cutting ceremony to introduce the new equiptment.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER The work was done through a $75,000 New Jersey Department of Community Affairs or NJDCA Local Recreation Improvement Grant, according to Newton administrative assistant Kathryn Alcock. Newton Recreation Coordinater Danielle Finkle selected and ordered the equipment and new signs for the park. The equipment was purchased and installed through Ben Shaffer Recreation, Alcock said. Newton Department of Public Works’ Adam Vough “and his crew,” installed the new gate, did the paving and mulching of the grounds. Pine Street Park, called a “hidden gem,” is located in a residential neighborhood off Pine Street and Linmor Avenue. Youth soccer and t-ball games are played there. ROXBURY, NJ – The Shops at Ledgewood Commons shopping center in Roxbury was bought recently by a company that likes to buy retail complexes in areas "with attractive population density and/or income levels." Newton Boys Golf Team Places Third in State Sectionals
NEWTON, NJ – The Newton High School boys golf team completed in the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 1, Group 1 Sectionals on Monday. They placed third with a final score of 337. Sparta Boys Lax Beats Hunterdon Central in H/W/S Semifinal Game
SPARTA, NJ – Sparta boys lacrosse moves to the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex finals after defeating Hunterdon Central on Tuesday. The top seed Spartans beat the number five seed Red Devils 10-2. Parker Hein was in net for the win making five stops. New Sparta Planning Board Begins New Diamond Chip Mega-Application Hearings
SPARTA, NJ – After nearly two years the Diamond Chip Realty application hearing began on Wednesday to a packed house. It was standing room only with people watching from the municipal building’s entrance hall. Much has changed since the planning board sent DCR back to the drawing board in July 2022.
