House where Chris Watts slaughtered pregnant wife and 2 kids stuffing bodies into oil drums on sale

In just over a year since it was last sold, the Chris Watts' murder house is back on the market, appreciating in value by $170k - despite the ghastly homicides of a pregnant woman and her children.

In 2018 Watts, who is serving five life sentences behind bars, strangled his wife Shanann, who was 15 weeks pregnant, at the home in Frederick, Colorado. The home itself last sold for $600,000 in 2022, but is now on the market for a whopping $770,000.

The last owners changed the facade colors and spruced up the home, turning it into a fun, family home again. The Millers family bought it for $600,000 previously, and the agent wrote on social media that the new owners "cannot wait to put love, family, and laughter back into this house."

The home, built in 2013, is listed on Zillow and has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a loft area, views of the Colorado Rockies, granite counters, and even a cozy gas fireplace. It has had two previous owners. The home that's pictured in the interactive photos is now a friendly, beautiful environment.

But in 2018, it was a horrific sight for responding officers who found nothing but slaughter. After killing his wife in the bedroom, Chris Watts put the body in their truck and drove it along with their two girls, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, to isolated storage tanks belonging to his employer Anadarko Petroleum.

He buried Shanann in a shallow grave and then smothered the two girls and stuffing their bodies through the eight-inch hatches of two different oil drums. For days, Watts claimed he had nothing to do with his family's disappearance and even gave interviews outside the house to local news stations, begging them to come home.

After the murders it was revealed the Watts were facing extreme money worries and had filed for bankruptcy after failing to meet their $3,000 monthly mortgage payments. They were also due to appear in court after being sued by their homeowner's association.

Following the murders, the lender foreclosed on the property but it didn't sell. Denver-based bankruptcy attorney Clark Dray told Realtor.com in 2020: "It's not getting any bids because people know the sordid history of the house, and nobody wants it."

However, the house did finally sell, and change - for the better. Reddit users say they’re "glad to see the new family making it their own." One user added: "Looks better. As much as I'm not generally superstitious, I don't personally think I could sleep in a room where I knew a woman had been murdered, but it's a nice house and I hope the new owners are happy there."

"Life goes on. That's what's supposed to happen. The best way to erase what Chris Watts did is to move on and have life continue," wrote one person on Reddit. "Don't forget the victims, but don't let Chris Watts continue to disrupt the lives of people in the neighborhood by having the house sit there, dark, brooding and empty."
