A young mother is speaking about her frightening encounter with a gang of street takeover drivers — and the spectators who confronted her as she was trying to drive through an intersection.

The woman named Carissa asked to have her name withheld because she feared retaliation. She said she was stopped at the intersection of Hemphill and East Berry in South Fort Worth when that intersection was taken over by cars racing in circles with screeching tires smoking as they left skid marks — while some in the mob recorded videos or took photos.

Carissa waited 30 minutes after calling 911 but when police did not arrive she tried to move cautiously through the intersection, and that's when a horde of spectators descended on her, kicking and striking her car while shrieking at her while her little girl cried in fear in the back seat.

At one point, she saw a man pull a pistol, aim it at her, and — at the last second — raise to fire at least two shots into the air. Her car emerged with hundreds of dollars in damage.

Fort Worth police say they have arrested at least two of the drivers and cited some of the spectators — but they are examining cell phone video and hope to arrest more.
