Fort Myers, FL - A man has been arrested on charges of misusing 911 and resisting arrest following a bizarre incident at a Southwest Florida McDonald's.

Authorities say 31-year-old Eric Hoffman allegedly caused a scene at the McDonald's on US-41 near Crystal Drive in Fort Myers last week.

According to reports, Hoffman allegedly used profanity towards employees and customers while refusing to pay for his food.

The commotion prompted multiple calls to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, including one from Hoffman himself.

According to reports, Hoffman dialed 911 to complain about a deputy "following him."

Recorded audio reveals Hoffman yelling at the deputy, using derogatory language, and accusing the 911 operator of "plotting" against him. The call continued for five minutes, with Hoffman eventually claiming it was a mistake and he meant to dial "411" for a taxi. The operator advised him not to call back.

Hoffman reportedly disregarded the instruction and placed another call, expressing his frustration with the 911 system.

Deputies located Hoffman near Crystal Drive and Brantley Road in south Fort Myers.

Hoffman was arrested and is facing charges of misusing 911 and resisting arrest without violence.
