More: Lubbock-area football playoffs schedule, scores, locations More: Top high school boys basketball players in Lubbock area for 2025-26 season GAME OF THE WEEK Ropes (10-1) vs. Farwell (7-3) 7 p.m. Friday, Littlefield There's always intrigue in a rematch, especially one in the playoffs. Ropes and Farwell met in the same round last year, when the Eagles prevailed 28-0 en route to the Region I-2A Division II final. But the teams have plenty of differences this season. That's more true for the Steers, who beat Sudan 56-42 in a bi-district. Farwell is under the direction of first-year coach Derrick Shelton and is led by a young backfield. Freshman quarterback Kolson Allen thrived in his playoff debut, and sophomore running back Coy Miller was a more-than-capable complement. Allen accounted for 370 yards and six touchdowns, while Miller ran for a team-high 132 yards. Hudson Agee (5-114) and Andrae Pullen (3-125) combined for three of four receiving TDs. U.S. 84 neighbors Farwell, Sudan open 2A football playoffs in Game of the Week
It's do-or-die time. Here's a look at the best high school football games in the Lubbock area for the bi-district round of the playoffs. GAME OF THE WEEK Sudan (8-2) vs. Farwell (6-3) 7 p.m. Friday, Dimmitt Separated by less than 40 miles on U.S. 84, these two are close enough to be district rivals. Friday's Class 2A Division II bi-district meeting will mean more than that. One team's season will end, and the result may answer a question: How much does strength of schedule matter? Sudan's regular-season opponents went 43-56, while Farwell faced teams with a combined 48-39 mark. The Steers played four teams with winning records — and 5-5 Abernathy — while the Hornets faced three. Farwell's season opener against 6-3 New Deal was canceled by weather with the game tied at 7. Sudan went 1-2 against teams with winning records but, to their credit, the Hornets won all others decisively. Sudan beat 6-4 Tahoka by 28 and had an average winning margin of 35. The Hornets also pushed district champion Hale Center (9-1) to double overtime in a 34-28 loss. Sudan had an opportunity to win in the first overtime, but the Owls blocked an extra point
