“Pickups, Pickups, Pickups” at the Car Show this Weekend
The Yellow Brick Road Car Show will be hosting a “Pickups, Pickups, Pickups” car show this weekend. Light Park in Liberal will once again be the staging area for the local car show. It’s brought to you by Billy’s Ayr Lanes, Rodding USA Magazine, and Mothers Car Care. The show will feature cars from all over the country with an emphasis on Pickups, however all are vehicles welcome. The event is Saturday at Light Park with registration from 8-11 and the car show from 8:00am-3:00pm. The awards will be presented at 3. There will be drawings and prizes throughout the day and a 50/50 pot to benefit the local Boy Scouts.
Brooklyn Quint Wins State Bowling Scholarship
Liberal’s Brooklyn Quint has won a state bowling award. Here is the announcement from the Kansas State Bowling Proprietors Association. We would like to congratulate Brooklyn Quint. Brooklyn is our 2024 Sandra Butcher Memorial Scholarship winner. Brooklyn will receive a $2000.00 scholarship. USD 480 Board Approves LED Lighting at Redskin Field and East Campus.
In a Special USD 480 Board meeting Monday morning, the Board of Education approved the conversion of lighting to LED at Redskin Field in the amount of $239,000. The Board also approved the purchase and installation of sports field lighting at East Campus Field in the amount of $255,000.

LHS Softball Closes Out Home Season with Competitive Loss
The Garden City Buffaloes topped the Liberal Redskins in softball Friday afternoon at the National Beef Sports Complex, but it was close. The Buffaloes prevailed 5-2 on a sunny Friday afternoon with temperatures in the lower 70’s. LHS scored in the first. GCHS plated five in the second. Elizabeth Mannel had three hits. Zoey Torres, Lexi Miller, and Taylor Harding had two hits a piece. Zoey Torres pitched five strong innings in relief allowing just one hit with three strikeouts and one walk. Garden City is 9-15 overall and finishes 6-6 in the WAC. Liberal is 6-17 overall and finishes 1-12 in the WAC.
