Amber Alert cancelled after 15-year-old girl kidnapped from Kansas park in broad daylight found safe
LIBERAL, Kan. (KCTV) - An Amber Alert has been issued for a 15-year-old girl kidnapped from a park in broad daylight in Southwest Kansas. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation says agents were notified by the Liberal Police Department that around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, law enforcement officials were called to Mary Frame Park at 530 S. New York St. with reports of a kidnapping.

Zoey Torres is Hay Rice and Associates Athlete of the Week
Liberal junior softball player Zoey Torres is this week’s Hay Rice and Associates Athlete of the Week. Torres is hitting .378 with one home run, four doubles, one triple, and 19 runs for the Redskins this season. As a pitcher, she has 46 strikeouts and 21 walks for 6-17 Liberal. She is also involved in volleyball, basketball, student council, NHS, and Marvel Movies Club. The LHS softball team faces Washburn Rural Thursday at 4:30 in Topeka.
Manhattan Blanks Liberal
For the second consecutive season, the Liberal girls soccer season ended at Manhattan. The seven seed Manhattan Indians blanked the 10 seed Liberal Redskins 5-0 Tuesday night in Manhattan. It was 3-0 at the half. Manhattan is 11-5-1 and Liberal finishes 8-7-2.

City Commission Agrees to Solar Improvements
The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening and recognized Alicia Hidalgo as a Master Municipal Clerk. Commissioners approved authorizing solar energy generation improvements and provided for the payment of the costs at the Police Department, Recreation Center, Wastewater Treatment Plant, and City Hall. Commissioners designated $800,000 from the Streets, Drainage, and Other Capital Improvements portion of the One Cent Sales Tax to get the project underway.
