Wingstop restaurant is coming to the Vestal Parkway. What we know
Another popular chain restaurant will be opening on the Vestal Parkway. Brixmor Property Group spokesperson Maria Pace confirmed on Feb. 24 that Wingstop will be coming to the Vestal Exchange shopping center. Wingstop will be situated alongside Crumbl and Tropical Smoothie Cafe , in the same plaza as Starbucks, GameStop and Jersey Mike's Subs. Just like Crumbl and Tropical Smoothie Cafe, the Vestal Wingstop location will be the first in the area, though the three companies have stores nationwide. Crumbl and Tropical Smoothie Cafe are anticipated to open sometime early this year, but Pace said the Brixmor Property Group does not have an "estimated opening date" for Wingstop as of Feb. 24. What is Wingstop? Wingstop first opened as a "small buffalo-style chicken wing restaurant" in Garland, TX in 1994, according to its website , but has since grown into a large, popular chain business with now more than 2,500 restaurants "across the globe." John W. Jones Museum grows impact with addition in Elmira. When it opens
A project to expand the size of a museum honoring one of Elmira's most prominent citizens — a plan that formed a few years ago as an idea with no funding behind it — will become reality this spring. After more than 20 years in the planning stages, the vision of turning the home of escaped slave John W. Jones into a museum finally came to fruition in 2016, and proved to be so popular it didn't take long for the museum to start running out of space . In 2023, museum officials announced plans to build an addition behind the original museum building that would more than double the available space, but they didn't have the money to make it happen. Thanks to the City of Elmira, Chemung County and several other donors, including Corning Incorporated Community Impact & Investment, New York State Council on the Arts, and the Community Foundation of Elmira/Corning and the Finger Lakes, the museum was able to raise $1 million for construction of the new education and cultural center. That work got underway in October, and the addition is quickly taking shape. "We got $250,000 from the city and $350,000 from Chemung County," said
