FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Florida man has been sentenced to prison in Fayette County Circuit Court in relation to an incident in which he was found to be in possession of over 300 non-prescribed oxycodone pills.

The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney of Fayette County reports that, on the evening of November 9, 2021, Oak Hill Police Department members conducted a traffic stop on U.S. Route 19. The involved vehicle, a Ford SUV, was reportedly travelling at 72mph in a 55mph zone.

Officers identified the driver of the vehicle as Jerrell A. Pierre and detected the odor of marijuana emanating from within the vehicle. The K9 unit brought to the scene returned a positive result for controlled substances following an exterior sniff of the vehicle.

Several pill bottles containing over 300 pills were discovered in the vehicle, and it was determined that the substances contained were not part of a valid prescription.

It was noted by investigating officers that, had Pierre consumed the prescriptions as directed, they would have been consumed long before the date of the traffic stop.

Subsequent laboratory testing was conducted on the substances and determined that the substance seized was over three hundred oxycodone pills.

On May 6, 2024, Jarrelle A. Pierre – 34 years old of Palm Beach Florida – was sentenced by Circuit Judge Paul M. Blake, Jr. to one-to-three years for an attempt to commit a felony offense in relation to the incident. Pierre must serve a minimum of one year in prison before potentially becoming eligible for parole.

The case was investigated by members of the Oak Hill Police Department and was prosecuted by Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney R. Wes Toney.
