Family of woman reportedly shot to death by boyfriend raising money for college funds for victim's 2 children
LORTON, Va. — The family of a woman reportedly killed by her boyfriend inside a car is choosing to honor her by raising money for her children to go to college. Alison "Kate" LaPorta was brought to Fairfax Hospital by her boyfriend, 47-year-old Huy Tien Nguyen, on Wednesday, April 17. She had been shot and later died at the hospital. She was 38.
Police: Man waiting at DC bus stop stabbed in stomach, robbed
WASHINGTON — DC Police are investigating a stabbing and robbery that happened early Tuesday morning at a bus stop in Southwest, D.C. According to the police report, a man was waiting at a bus stop in the 4600 block of South Capitol Street, SW around 3:20 a.m. Tuesday when he was approached by another man. The suspect allegedly said "give me that shit" and then punched the man in the head and stabbed him in the stomach with a silver blade.
Warning period for Oakton High School speed cameras began Monday
VIENNA, Va. — Fairfax County officials are warning drivers that new speed cameras near Oakton High School have been installed, and within a month, fines will be levied against speeding drivers. There will be a 30-day warning period, which began Monday, before fines will be enforced starting May 29.

A man hopped on the back of a Metro train at McPherson Square in downtown D.C. Monday morning and rode it from the outside, a witness told News4.
