According to U.S. News & World Report’s Best High Schools list released April 23, Eastern Technical High School drew a No. 1 ranking, seeing an improvement from last year’s list.

Five Baltimore County public high schools placed among the top 30 high schools in the state, 14 among the top 150, three among the state’s top five magnet schools and four among the nation’s best magnet schools.

Eastern Tech and Western School of Technology and Environmental Science led the way for BCPS, ranking first and eighth respectively among high schools in Maryland, and first and fourth respectively among the state’s magnet schools, the report indicates.

Eastern Tech, located on Mace Avenue in Essex, saw a 100 percent graduation rate in 2023, easily standing out as the highest-performing public school in the area. The school was also ranked 33rd on the national list of magnet schools.

Seven Baltimore County public high schools ranked among the top 60 in Maryland, including Eastern Tech, Western Tech, Carver Center, Towson High School, Hereford High School, Pikesville High School, and Catonsville High School. Eastern Tech and Western Tech were named the Baltimore Metro region’s top two high schools.
