3 arrested in Athens, accused of attempting to hide meth
ATHENS, Texas (KLTV) - Deputies arrested three people after finding clear plastic baggies of a “crystal-like substance” believed to be meth. The first arrest took place on Emma Street near Blake Street, when deputies saw a man drop a clear glass pipe and a black container that, according to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, he had been trying to hide by tucking up under his arm. Deputies said the container had two plastic baggies with a “substantial” amount of a “clear crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.” The man, identified as Kenneth Earl Vess Sr., 59, of Murchison, was booked into the Henderson County Jail. He was charged with manufacturing or delivery of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence, with total bond set at $120,000.
Records: National president of Ugly Man Cossacks arrested in connection to murder
SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - A Kemp man was arrested Tuesday in suspicion of leading an outlaw motorcycle club in the murder of an East Texas motorcyclist. Kevin Dale Higgins, 57, was charged with direct street gang activities, a first degree felony, in connection with the motorcycle club Ugly Man Cossacks. The Cossacks have been reported on for the murder of Brandon Edwards, of Ben Wheeler, who was shot to death in Arp on May 2, 2022, for his membership in a rival club. According to an affidavit for Chad Michael Crowell, 38, of Eustace, Higgins is believed to be the national president of the Ugly Man Cossacks, and ultimately gave the order that resulted in Edwards’ death.

Woman arrested in Henderson County, accused of having fentanyl
CANEY CITY, Texas (KLTV) - Narcotics investigators found a substance they believe to be fentanyl in a woman’s car during a traffic stop on Friday. Investigators stopped Edna Patricia Little, 45, of Royse City, as she was driving in Caney City, according to a release from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office. She was the only person in the vehicle, and authorities found a substance they believed to be fentanyl in the car.
