The chain became such a regular part of life across New York and the Northeast that many shoppers could scarcely imagine their communities without it.

Trader Joe's plans 2 new New York stores. See where they're going

Two new Trader Joe's stores are planned for New York, expanding the popular grocery chain's presence in the state. The California-based retailer announced plans this summer to open new locations in the Syracuse area and Yonkers as part of its latest nationwide expansion. The plans add to the company's growth in New York, which includes a Long Island store that opened earlier this year. The expansion comes as Trader Joe's continues to draw shoppers with its private-label products and competitively priced groceries. Where are the new Trader Joe's stores? According to Trader Joe's, the two planned stores will be located at: Camillus: 3515 W. Genesee St., in the Syracuse area. Yonkers: 2482 Central Park Ave. The Camillus store, located just west of Syracuse in Onondaga County, will be about 9,000 square feet and become the area's second Trader Joe's. The existing Syracuse-area store is at 3422 Erie Blvd. E. in DeWitt. The Yonkers location will cover about 10,000 square feet. When will the new Trader Joe's stores open? Trader Joe's has not announced opening dates for either New York location. Spokeswoman Nakia Rohde said new stores typically open within three to six months of being announced. Burger King in Watkins Glen will show off its new "sizzle" restaurant redesign and treat guests to special giveaways, prizes, free samples and other surprises at a public ribbon-cutting celebration on Saturday, Nov. 7. After closing for months to complete the interior and exterior reimagining of the fast food restaurant, the Watkins Glen BK at 211 Franklin St. reopened in October with a whole new look and added features, including digital ordering kiosks, an enhanced drive-thru, a designated pick-up area and signature interior design elements like the new “King Booth." “We’re excited to bring this newly remodeled restaurant to the Watkins Glen community,” said Don McIntyre, Burger King Division Vice President. “After years of serving guests in the community, we can’t wait for them to experience this state-of-the-art design and create new memories for years to come.” The new “Sizzle” design concept is an extension of the brand’s goal to achieve an 85-90% modern image across the U.S. by 2028, fueled by more than $700 million in investments since the brand announced its “Reclaim the Flame” strategy in 2022.
