Millcreek Township police accuse an Erie man of causing a township man's death by supplying him with pills containing fentanyl in May 2023.

Stewart J. Correll, 25, was arraigned Friday on charges of drug delivery resulting in death, possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of a communication facility, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia in the death of the 23-year-old victim.

Correll is free after posting $100,000 bond, according to court documents.

Erie lawyer Joseph Depalma, who is listed in court documents as Correll's attorney, said Monday that he could not comment on the case at this time.

Millcreek police accuse Correll of supplying the victim with blue "M30" pills containing fentanyl on May 19, 2023, hours before the victim was found unresponsive by his girlfriend at an apartment at 1809 Treetop Drive in Millcreek the next morning, according to information in Correll's criminal complaint. Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook pronounced the victim dead at the scene, according to police.

Investigators wrote in the affidavit filed with the complaint that they identified Correll as a suspect through text messages between Correll and the victim. An Erie County detective extracted information from both phones that showed evidence of a drug transaction between the two on the late evening of May 19, 2023, leading up to the victim's death, according to the affidavit.

Correll's phone also had photographic evidence of him being in possession of controlled substances during that timeframe, according to information in the affidavit.
