Mackenzie Hadfield Joins Mercyhurst as Field Hockey Head Coach
ERIE, Pa. - Mackenzie Hadfield has been named the new Head Coach of the Mercyhurst Field Hockey team. Hadfield stated her excitement, "I am honored and excited to be named the fifth coach in Mercyhurst field hockey history. I look forward to building upon the foundation that has been set before me and to move forward for the success of the program." She also noted, "I would like to thank Brad Davis and Stacey Gaudette for the privilege to Coach and continue doing what I love. I am more than lucky to be back in the PSAC! GO LAKERS! "

Cathedral Prep Hockey Players Scrimmaging Ukrainian Hockey Team
It's currently the offseason for John's Sorge's Cathedral Prep middle school hockey team, but as any hockey parent knows, it's a year-round sport. Sorge, who is the vice president of the Cathedral Prep Hockey Club and the head coach of the program's middle school hockey team, had an idea for his team to put the skates back on and get some practice this summer.
Horse Racing: Crazy Final Race at Presque Isle Downs leads to No Contest; triggers memory of Longacres race
The final race at Presque Isle Downs in Erie, PA on Thursday evening finished as a “no contest” when a horse dropped it’s rider and went the wrong way. The #1 horse was scratched in the 6-furlong race and so #2 Masterofthehounds with jockey Walber Alencar aboard broke from the inside post of the gate. When the gates opened Masterofthehounds bucked off Alencar and then took a hard left turn out of the 6-furlong chute and started down the wrong way of the 1st turn.
