Two manatees were spotted Thursday morning in the Hague, a relatively rare sight in the Ghent neighborhood of Norfolk. The sea cows were spotted about 10 a.m. by a Daily Press/Virginian-Pilot staff photographer, who said they were about 6-8 feet long, from the Hague’s pedestrian bridge. Inside look at Navy's latest Osprey, as first of new fleet arrives in Norfolk
NAVAL STATION NORFOLK — Sitting on the flight line, the Navy's new Osprey looks like it comes from a Transformers movie. According to the Navy, The CMV-22B Osprey is the replacement for the C-2A Greyhound for the Carrier Onboard Delivery (COD) mission. The Osprey can take off and land as a helicopter but transit as a turboprop aircraft. The first of the new Osprey arrived in Hampton roads in April of this year.
Tidewater Baseball Shrine to induct three in 2024 Class
NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk Tides today announced that Marty Miller, Christy Mathewson and Marvin Astor “Towny” Townsend are being inducted into the Tidewater Baseball Shrine. The Tidewater Baseball Shrine recognizes players and executives who have significantly contributed to the game of baseball in the Tidewater area. The Tides will induct the three new members between their doubleheader vs. Jacksonville on Friday, July 26th at Harbor Park. Miller is expected to be in attendance, while Townsend’s family will accept his award for him.

Solar-Powered Waste, Recycling Bins Deployed Across Campus. Norfolk State University continues to work toward a smarter and greener campus. The University, via Facilities Management (Energy & Sustainability), has deployed 20 Bigbelly bins across campus, including the fully enclosed Bigbelly solar-powered smart waste compactor, battery-powered compactor and recycling bins. The bins are installed on the main lawn, common areas, student centers, stadium, tennis courts, baseball field and more.
