Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - An Elma woman faces seven years in prison after admitting to striking a pedestrian on Transit Road in January, then driving off without reporting the incident.

37-year-old Stephanie Kollatz pleaded guilty on Monday in Erie County Court to leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death. Prosecutors say that was the highest charge.

Back on Jan. 8, Kollatz was driving a minivan Northbound on Transit Road in the Town of Elma when she hit a pedestrian who was walking along the road between French Road and Clinton Street. Prosecutors say she drove away from the scene without reporting the incident to police.

Another driver, who saw the victim laying on the ground, reported the incident to police. The victim, an unidentified male, died at the scene.

The investigation determined Kollatz was driving with a suspended registration and without a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance or an inspection certificate at the time of the crash.

Kollatz faces a maximum of seven years in prison when she is sentenced on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 9:30 a.m ET. She remains released on her own recognizance.
