A man from Edmonds, Washington, stopped for gas and spent $2 on a lottery game.

He then had to do a “double take” when he realized he won $10,000.

Before his win, the man, whose full name was not provided, was working at a job site in Everett, Washington’s Lottery said in a May 8 news release.

He stopped at the Casino Tesoro gas station on his way home and filled up his tank, lottery officials said. He also bought a Match 4 game.

But he didn’t check his ticket until the next day.

He scanned the ticket on the lottery app and saw $10,000 flash on his phone’s screen, the lottery agency said.

Once he saw this, he called his wife to tell her the news.

Now he has plans to buy a new home for his wife and sons. He also wants to put some of the money into savings.

To play Match 4 , a person has to select four numbers between 1 and 24 or choose the Quick Pick option to select them randomly.

If a player matches the four white balls, they win $10,000.

A person has a 1 in 10,600 chance of winning the top prize.

Edmonds is about a 20-mile drive north of Seattle.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
