LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — This weekend, you’ll be able to catch a CATA bus to and from the East Lansing Art Festival–and you’ll see some very artistic buses in the process.

The Capital Area Transportation Authority is launching “Art in Motion” this May 18-19 to coincide with the art festival and the MSU Spring Arts & Crafts Show.

The transportation authority has decorated five, 60-foot buses with the art of local artists Elyse Gambino, Daniel J. Hogan, Steph Joy Hogan, Lucy Synk and Jennifer Taggart Wilson. The buses are at Lot 89, on Michigan State University’s campus.

When you park for free at Lot 89 on the corner of Mt. Hope Road and Farm Lane, you’ll pay 50 cents round-trip to get to Grand River Avenue in East Lansing–and you’ll get to the see the display of local art on the CATA buses.

The Art in Motion show is through a partnership between CATA and the Arts Council of Greater Lansing.

“The Arts Council of Greater Lansing is proud to partner with community pillars like CATA to promote our local artists,” said Arts Council Executive Director Meghan Martin.

“Seeing the artist’s works highlighted on such a large scale with so much visibility, makes the arts available to all and raises awareness of the breadth of creative talent we have in Greater Lansing,” Martin went on to say.

Buses are running between Lot 89 and Grand River Avenue about every 10-15 minutes this Saturday and Sunday. Children who are under 42 inches tall can ride for free with an adult.

If you have questions about CATA service this weekend, you can call 517-394-1000 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
