Motorcycle Operator Arrested For DWI, Speeding
SMITHFIELD – An impaired driving suspect got the attention of a law enforcement officer traveling on N. Brightleaf Boulevard near Walmart. On Feb. 23 around 10:33pm, a deputy sheriff reportedly spotted a motorcycle speeding 78 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. The deputy caught up to the speeding motorcycle and stopped the driver. During the traffic stop the officer detected an odor of alcohol. The suspect registered 0.13 on the Breathalyzer, above the legal limit of 0.08.
