Man who stabbed 7-Eleven clerk pleads guilty to assault
EUGENE, Ore. – The man accused of stabbing a 7-Eleven clerk earlier in 2024 has pleaded guilty to two charges filed against him. Back on January 4, police responded to a reported stabbing at a 7-Eleven on west Sixth Avenue. Eugene police said Robert Lee Childers, 40, of Springfield, had walked into the store, grabbed a few items, got into an argument with a clerk, stabbed the clerk, and left without paying for his items. Police said the clerk was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening wounds. Childers was arrested on January 7 and charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon.
