She built a farm to feed her neighbors. A clash with her Cleveland council person put it at risk
In late July, Shirley Bell-Wheeler invited her community for a special day at Revolutionary Love Farm in Mt. Pleasant. That day, Wheeler was presenting certificates to young people who’d been working on the urban farm. She was also dedicating a new playground to the memory of her infant son, who died the year before. I feel we’re different in how we treat people. That’s how my dad built the company,” Mr. Sullivan said. His father, Tom Sullivan, who started the company in the Holland area in 1971, emphasized the importance of treating employees well, he said. Mr. Sullivan is the second generation to continue that employee-first philosophy. “It’s our biggest asset,” Mr. Sullivan said. “It’s why people stay here.” The company, which manufactures cutting dies, printing plates, and digital printing solutions that primarily serve the corrugated market, is booming. Dynamic Dies is investing $1 million to build a 10,000-square-foot expansion of its Spencer Township headquarters, bringing the facility to approximately 60,000 square feet. The addition will increase capacity, create production space, and support continued growth, including new jobs. The company is currently hiring. “We’re in a spot now where we’re looking to grow,” he said. “We need new people. This will allow us to expand our operations and manufacturing capabilities.” Dynamic Dies also has plants in Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, and Middletown, Ohio. The entire operation
