Delta Township celebrates new senior center on Michigan Avenue

DELTA TWP. — Township, state and school officials on Tuesday, Oct. 13 held a ribbon cutting at the new Delta Township Senior and Activity Center. The facility, which uses the northern half of the former Colt Elementary School, 4344 W. Michigan Ave., is a joint partnership between township and school officials to make use of the former school. The southern half of the building is being redeveloped as Colt Early Childhood Education Center. Once former classrooms, the north side of the building has been remade into a space that includes spaces for classes, a library and lounge, a kitchen and a gymnasium. State Rep. Angela Witwer, D-Delta Township, and Sen. Sarah Anthony, D-Lansing, helped secure a $10 million state appropriation for the renovation. “It has been incredibly rewarding to see this project that started out as just an idea a few years ago come to life. As a lifelong resident of Eaton County, helping create an updated space for our seniors and older residents here in Delta was a top priority of mine, and I am so proud to have brought taxpayer dollars back home for this project,” Witwer said in a statement. “I look forward to visiting again once
