HOLT, Mich. (WILX) - People from around the Greater Lansing area gathered at Rivers of Life Church in Holt Saturday to host a healing vigil for loved ones lost to violence. There were more than 45,000 violent crimes committed in the state of Michigan in 2022, according to the state’s annual crime report. Of that number, about 700 were murders, but the majority — nearly 35,000 — were aggravated assaults.
Neighbors worry about Friday’s homicide in Lansing
One person is dead, and another in custody in an early Friday morning shooting. Neighbors to the 3100 block of Turner St. in the city said they're not surprised of the nearby homicide and added that they're used to hearing and seeing vehicles in the area nearly once or twice a week.
