Second half comeback falls short for DWU women’s basketball team Wednesday night
Mitchell, S.D. (MITCHELL NOW) Dakota Wesleyan women’s basketball team fell at home 85-75 to the No. 1 Dordt Defenders in their regular season home finale. The Tigers fell in a big 58-37 hole in the first half, but came out clawing in the second half, outscoring the Defenders 38-27 and holding them to 15 points or under in every quarter. In the first half Dordt was firing on all cylinders on offense scoring 29 points in each quarter. On the DWU side of the court the Tigers were led by Rylee Rosenquist who had a career high 26 points to go with three rebounds and assists. Maleighya Estes provided big minutes off the bench as well with her career high 10 points. Morgan Edelman recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds to go along with five assists. The dominant freshman duo of Shalayne Nagel and Emma Yost was the clear gameplan for Dordt to shut down as the pair combined for just eight points in the contest.

Mitchell City Council approves secondary water source agreement with Randall Community Water District
The Mitchell City Council last night approved a secondary water source agreement with Randall Community Water District. The city will receive up to 5 million gallons per day of additional potable water. Mitchell’s current maximum daily capacity of water is 2.6 million gallons, which is supplied by B-Y Water District. The city’s water usage has been more than that amount more regularly in the past several years. Cost to the city is estimated to be $78 million funded through a 30-year loan at 1.875 percent interest. The cost could fluctuate based on the final bid. It was also noted that the city will retain ownership of the pipeline between Stickney and Mitchell with the term of the agreement expires. The council unanimously approved the agreement.

DWU men’s wrestling earn four all-conference honors
Mitchell, S.D. (MITCHELL NOW) The Great Plains Athletic Conference released the post-season men’s wrestling awards and four Tigers earned honors. Kaleb Bigelow, a GPAC Champion, earned first team honors after his huge weekend at the GPAC Men’s Wrestling Championships. Aric Williams, Trevion Sample, and Tyson Johnson were named honorable mention. Williams and Sample finished in third place and Johnson earned true second.
