    New Diana ISD voters to decide on $28M bond

    DIANA, Texas ( KETK ) – New Diana Independent School District is seeking the approval of a $28 million bond to address infrastructure, safety improvements and expansion.

    According to the school district, the bond will include projects to enhance safety and security, campus functionality and program improvements.

    Based on the website, the total bond is estimated to cost $28,250,000 with the expansion and programs project expected to cost over $22 million.

    Expansion and Programs

    The project will include the expansion and renovation of the band hall, a new lobby, new gym with locker rooms and a new corridor.

    Infrastructure

    “Infrastructure work to enhance campus safety and functionality while prolonging site and facility life spans, the school district said.

    Based on the website, infrastructure projects will cost over $3 million to address repairs to prevent water damage, refresh the gym and lighting upgrades in the high school and middle school corridors.

    Safety and Security

    These projects are meant to address safety and security in campuses by adding security vestibules and access controls. These projects are expected to cost $2,850,000, the school district said.

    New Diana ISD has a property tax impact calculator available on their website for residents to calculate the estimated taxes if the bond is passed.

    People who are registered voters within New Diana ISD will be able to vote on the bond through April 30 during early voting and on May 4 on Election Day.

    In 2022, voters rejected New Diana ISD’s $23.76 million bond package for renovations that was divided into two propositions.
