Deputies make arrest in threat against Murrells Inlet church
GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Two people have been arrested in connection to threats made against an African Methodist Episcopal Church in Georgetown County. According to a release from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a tip Friday regarding threats to shoot up Greater Gordon Chapel AME Church on Old River Road in Murrells Inlet.

Coastal Carolina athletic director Hogue, ex-football coach Moglia changing roles
CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — Coastal Carolina’s Matt Hogue, in charge of the athletic department for the past 10 years, will move to a new role at the school this summer while former football coach Joe Moglia will give up his positions as chairman of athletics and executive director of football once the new athletic director is hired. The school announced Friday that Hogue will lead the school’s development of a center for sports broadcasting. His last day with athletics will be July 15. Coastal Carolina said in a statement a search for Hogue’s successor as vice president for intercollegiate athletics and university recreation will begin immediately. Moglia has served in his roles since retiring as football coach after the 2018 season. He will remain as executive advisor to Coastal Carolina president Michael T. Benson.

How water quality is monitored and improved along Myrtle Beach area beaches
As tourism season gets into full swing, the quality of the water on Grand Strand beaches is being closely watched. May marks the beginning of South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control’s water monitoring season, which continues through October. DHEC takes weekly or biweekly samples of water at 122 locations up and down the Carolina coast, with 43 of those testing spots located in Horry County.
