New synthetic opioid variant surfaces in Bay Area

A new synthetic opioid variant, commonly known as cychlorphine, has recently surfaced in the Bay Area and has already made its mark. After taking the life of San Francisco resident 16-year-old Dante Lacourte, four people were arrested by the San Francisco Police Department for allegedly supplying him with what would become a fatal dose. Composed of elements like carbon, hydrogen, chlorine, nitrogen, and oxygen, cychlorphine is far from safe for consumption.

Oakland Coliseum and Arena's 1,605 workers to lose jobs at year-end

Amidst uncertainty over the future of the Oakland Coliseum and Arena, the management company Legends Global gave the legally mandated 60-day WARN notice to the state, that 1,605 employees at the site will be terminated when their contract ends December 31, 2026. The Oakland Acquisition Company spokesman Raymond Bobbitt says the plan is to rehire those union employees once the company closes a $240-million deal with the City of Oakland and Alameda County to buy the site, and then sell the arena portion for $100 million to Oak View developers.
