Kicking up meals for those in need
The Waconia U14 Soccer Club girls teamed up last month to pack meals for the hungry. The girls had a team building event April 25 volunteering at Feed My Starving Children in Chanhassen where they helped pack 59 boxes or 33,984 meals. The girls learned a lot while having fun, said team manager Megan Grudt, and as one girl remarked, “That was fun and it feels so good to do something nice for others!” (Submitted photos)

Tonkabots team wrapping up ‘amazing year’
The Mound Westonka Tonkabots FIRST Robotics Team competed in the world competition in Houston, Texas in April for the first time ever. The team earned the opportunity to compete by earning a first-place finish at the 2024 Northern Lights Regional Competition. The Tonkabots competed in the “Galileo” division at the FIRST Championship, where they finished 22nd of 75 teams. Over 600 teams from 16 countries and 48 states were represented in the competition. Mound Westonka High School art students competed in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Visual Arts Festival, the largest regional art competition in the state, April 26 in Shakopee. The Monticello Senior Center has an enjoyable trip to New Ulm coming up on Wednesday, July 17. The first stop on this trip will be at the Visitors Center, where a local guide will step on the motor coach for a riding tour.
