BROWN COUNTY CAUCUSES TUESDAY
Precinct caucuses are Tuesday at various locations throughout Brown County. Caucuses are meetings run by Minnesota’s political parties where parties may endorse candidates, select delegates and set goals and party platforms. Republican caucuses will be held in New Ulm, Sleepy Eye and Springfield. DFL caucuses will be in New Ulm, Sleepy Eye and Hanska. All precinct caucuses will start at 7 pm Tuesday, the GOP registration will open at 6:15 pm, DFL registration at 6:30 pm. Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon says going to a caucus is a great way to show support for a candidate, bring up an issue important to you as well as influencing who the party will endorse for many offices.

MINOR INJURIES IN NEW ULM CRASH
New Ulm Police were called to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of 11th South and Washington Tuesday morning at 10:36 am. A Ford Edge driven by 20-year-old Hayden Clark of Rochester was eastbound on 11th South and collided with a Mercury Grand Marquis driven by 85-year-old Janice Seifert of New Ulm. Her passenger, Marvin Seifert, was taken to New Ulm Medical Center by Allina Ambulance with a minor hand injury. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and had to be towed.

Woman charged with felony DWI allegedly left horse & trailer at crash scene
A woman facing her second DWI charge this month allegedly fled the crash scene, where she left a horse in an overturned trailer. Laura Catherine Farrell, 38, of Good Thunder, was charged last week in Blue Earth County Court with felony DWI. She’s also charged with violating driving restrictions and open bottle, both misdemeanors.
Nicollet County Government Center to undergo extensive remodel
The Nicollet County Government Center is getting a major update as the county aims to improve services. An extensive remodeling project on the government center will begin on March 6 and continue through the summer months. The improvements will create a “more efficient and updated facility to meet the needs of Nicollet County residents,” according to a social media post.

Sharon Rae Gilman age 76, originally of Gibbon, Minnesota passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, February 15, 2024. A memorial church service and visitation will be held for all family and friends on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The church is located at 627 South Washington Street, New Ulm, Minnesota 56073. The visitation will be from 10:00am – 12:00pm. The memorial church service will start at 12pm with a brief reception to follow in the church banquet area, followed by a burial at Garden City Cemetery for family. POLICE INVESTIGATING BURGLARY REPORT
New Ulm Police were called to a burglary report Friday night at 11:41 pm on the 800 block of South State Street. Police say a front door was damaged and they believe entry may have been gained earlier in the day but nothing was reported taken. Police are continuing their investigation.
LDC boys end regular season with loss to New Ulm; begin postseason
LITCHFIELD – The LDC boys hockey team ended their regular season with a home game against New Ulm Thursday, Feb. 15. Mason Karnik scored his first goal in a varsity sweater to put the Charging Dragons up 1-0 early in the first period, but the Eagles (20-5) scored five unanswered goals to take a 5-1 victory.
