Lakeside’s Phil Becraft and Deerfield’s Landon Brattlie spent the first five innings trading zeros.

Lakeside’s baseball team put together a four-run rally in the sixth inning and Becraft pitched a two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts in 4-0 home win on Monday, April 29 over Deerfield in non conference action.

Lakeside, which stranded the bases loaded in the fourth, jumped all over reliever Aiden Brown in the sixth.

Aidan Berg was hit by a pitch to open the frame and Thomas Dwyer advanced his pinch runner Haydenn Schoenherr to third with a single. Tyler Chopp then lined a run-scoring single to right.

After Logan Schwab bunted for a hit, Owen Marty singled home a pair on a chopper to left field. Schwab capped the scoring by coming across on a wild pitch.

Becraft took a perfect game into the fifth before Brown singled with two outs. Lakeside’s lefty struck out the side in the seventh to end it for the Warriors (9-3), who have won four straight.

Brattlie punched out 13 and walked four over five innings of one-hit ball for the Demons.
