    UPDATE 4:30 p.m.:

Southbound lanes on Interstate 75 have reopened approximately 10 hours after a semi-crash in Dayton on Wednesday morning.

As reported on News Center 7 Daybreak, Dayton Police and medics were dispatched at 2:25 a.m. after a semi-trailer crashed on I-75 SB between Stanley Avenue and SR-4.

According to the Ohio Department of Transportation, the interstate reopened around 12:25 p.m.

The fuel tanks on the semi ruptured leaking diesel across all southbound lanes in the area, according to a spokesperson for Dayton Police Department.

HazMat crews responded to make sure there were no issues or contamination.

The crash involved just the semi and no one was injured.

As a result of the crash, the semi destroyed the guardrail from SR-4 until the “Main Street” sign, which the semi came to rest on.

From the moment he got in, it was a busy morning for News Center 7 Traffic Expert Jake Magnotta.

“Pretty crazy. Right off the bat,” Magnotta said.

Pictures from the scene show a semi smashed against the right side of the highway and debris scattered all over the place.

“That semi, whatever it had, everywhere was a big mess. On top of the traffic mess, there was a mess on the highway,” Magnotta said.

At one point, the backup stretched three miles down I-75.

We are working to learn if anyone was injured in the crash and what caused it.

We will continue to follow this story.
