    Danville man hurt in overnight shooting, suspect arrested

    DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A Danville man is under arrest after police said he was identified as a suspect in a shooting that left a 20-year-old hurt early Monday morning.

    Officials with the Danville Police Department said in a press release that patrol officers heard around 3:45 a.m. the sound of gunshots coming from the area of Edgewood Drive and Fowler Avenue. When they responded, the officers found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition, officials said.

    During the subsequent investigation, investigators obtained two search warrants for separate apartments near the scene of the shooting. Officials said that when those warrants were served, 31-year-old Torrence S. Gardner was taken into custody in connection to the shooting.

    He is currently being held on charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.
