North Texas has received a ton of rainfall over the past month and another wave of heavy rain will move late Thursday morning and last through the day. Some storms may become severe in some areas. A Flood Watch is in place until Friday morning.

Early morning showers were in the area south of Interstate 20 on Thursday, but a large complex of storms is lurking to the northwest and is headed in the direction of North Texas. These storms will last through the afternoon. Hail, wind, and flooding are the threats.

A slow moving upper level disturbance will approach Thursday afternoon producing heavy rain across the area. One to four inches of rain are possible in the Flood Watch area. The severe risk will slide south of Dallas-Fort Worth by mid to late afternoon. Afternoon highs will top out in the mid to upper 70s, but cool into the 60s in the rainy areas.

The heavy rain threat shifts south later Thursday afternoon, but with the upper level disturbance slowly creeping across the area this evening and overnight, there could be more showers and isolated storms. The severe threat is very low, but an additional half inch of rain is possible in areas. Temperatures will fall into the upper 50s to low 60s by tomorrow morning.

Wrap around clouds the first half of Friday and then decreasing clouds after that. Afternoon highs will top out in the low 80s.

Temperatures will reach the low 90s this weekend with heat index values approaching 100 degrees. This heat will continue into Monday, before slightly cooler weather -- temperatures in the 80s -- return Tuesday and Wednesday with more storms possible late Tuesday into Wednesday.
