    Police searching for suspect after woman struck by vehicle

    CROSS LANES, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Police are attempting to identify and locate a suspect who struck a female with their vehicle and fled the scene.

    According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), deputies responded to the area of 4861 Washington Street W. in Cross Lanes just before 1:00 AM Friday for a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle.

    Deputies are still examining evidence and video surveillance that was collected from security cameras.

    Preliminarily investigations reveal that the 44-year-old female victim was struck by a passing car which also collided with a parked vehicle at that location.

    Another male who was standing by the parked vehicle suffered injuries and both the female and male were transported to area hospitals.

    Deputies say the female was alert but suffered serious injuries and the male who was struck by the parked vehicle after the collision was treated for minor injuries.

    The striking vehicle’s driver fled from the scene on foot before deputies arrived and a KCSO bloodhound was utilized to attempt to track the suspect; however, the driver was never located.

    Deputies are currently searching for the driver of the striking vehicle, a blue/black 2015 Hyundai Sonata, bearing a South Carolina registration.

    The driver left the vehicle at the scene and walked away.

    The driver is believed to be a heavy-set male, wearing black shorts and a black shirt.
