Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries win aid for senior dogs
Tioga, Pa. — The Grey Muzzle Organization, a national nonprofit dedicated to letting senior dogs live out their last days in loving homes, has awarded 100 animal welfare groups with grants during this year's cycle. Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries is among the grant winners, which were chosen from a pool of nearly 400 applicants. The winning groups are sharing more than $1 million in grants to help save and improve the lives of at-risk old dogs in their communities. ...

Flames destroy Cherry Flats Baptist Church, along with nearby garage
MANSFIELD, PA (WENY) -- A fire destroyed the Cherry Flats Baptist Church near Mansfield on Wednesday afternoon. The fire also destroyed a nearby garage and pickup truck. Clear skies stick around tonight with lows in the upper-40s and lower-50s. Dry weather sticks around this weekend with partly sunny skies Saturday. The mostly sunny skies return Sunday. We start off in the mid-80s and climb to 90 on Sunday. We will remain in the lower-90s on Monday with partly sunny skies. A few showers and thunderstorms will be possible into Tuesday and continue Wednesday as well as Thursday. Temperatures will be in ranging from the mid to upper-80s.
Roads closed, medical helicopter lands on Southside of Elmira
UPDATE 10 p.m. (7/26): Shortly after publishing, emergency crews reopened the closed off portion of S. Main St. ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Multiple roads are closed after an accident Friday night on Elmira's Southside. As of initial publishing, S. Main St. is blocked between between West Chemung Place and Henry St. West Hudson St. is also blocked off between S. Main St. and Clemens Center Parkway.
