UPDATE 4/19: Elmira Police released information Friday morning regarding the incident involving a barricaded person in the city. PSP warn public of 'McAfee Internet Security' scam
Mansfield, Pa. — A 68-year-old man in Mansfield was scammed out of $500 by a convincing phone call, police say. According to police, the man receiving a telephone call from an unknown individual claiming to be "McAfee Internet Security." The caller gave a convincing story, said police, and instructed the victim to purchase a $500 Apple gift card. Later, the victim realized it was a scam call and reported it to police. Pennsylvania State Police Mansfield is investigating the incident and has advised the public to be wary of various scams and gift card thefts.
