A Minnesota mother-of-two has claimed the $3.1 million Lotto America jackpot on Tuesday.

The ticket was purchased at Cub Foods at 2050 Northdale Blvd. in Coon Rapids for the April 24 drawing, with the winner using family birth dates on the ticket, matching all six winning numbers.

The winning numbers were: 7-12-17-22-52 and the Star Ball of 3.

“I’m so happy, I couldn’t believe it — I’ve never seen so many zeros before!” she told Minnesota Lottery. She says she's planning to buy a plane ticket to Southeast Asia to visit her mother.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve seen her. I’m looking forward to flying back home. I’ve got a big family that I haven’t seen in more than a decade.”

When her husband arrived home that day, he said he thought something bad happened because she had been crying so hard.

The win earned the Coon Rapids Cub Foods a $10,000 bonus.

This marks the second Lotto America jackpot win in the state in 2024. Another winner claimed a $3.73 million Lotto America jackpot on a ticket he purchased at the Roseville Cub Foods for the March 4 drawing.

The sums won on March 4 and April 24 are dwarfed by the two previous winning Lotto America tickets sold in Minnesota: A $22.8 million jackpot ticket sold in Roseau in March 2018, and a $21.6 million ticket sold in Ramsey in July 2019.

Lotto America is a game offered in 13 states. Tickets cost $1 and jackpots start at $2 million. Drawings are held on Mondays, Wednesday and Saturdays at 9:20 p.m. Tickets must be purchased by 9 p.m. on drawing days.
