New dessert place in downtown Davis serves Thai toast, other sweet Asian treats
Mango sticky rice crepe, Hokkaido milk crepe cakes, and tea lattes are all sugary delectables at courtesy of a new dessert spot in Davis. Naya Dessert Cafe is serving the sweet goods at 620 Fourth St. in downtown Davis. The business specializes in Thai-inspired desserts and is the first and only location in the Sacramento area. The Davis location, which officially opened in October, offers a menu that includes cake, toast, crepes, ice cream, drinks and Bingsu, a creamy Korean shaved ice made from frozen milk and condensed milk. The business’s signature sweets are its Mango Tango Bingsu, Black Thai Tea crepe, Thai Tea crepe cake, and a chocolate lava cake with salted egg cream custard inside and served with vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries. What truly separates Naya Dessert Cafe is its toast dessert. Unlike the traditional flat American toast, Thai toast is a thicker bread that towers over a scoop of ice cream and fresh fruit. With butter glazed on the bread’s edges, Thai toast is sweet, fluffy and served with a flavored cream drizzle. Toasts include: the “Kaya Toasted” with pandan sauce, coconut shaving, sliced banana and vanilla ice cream, the “Golden Toasted” with fresh strawberries,
