South Jersey Mean 15 softball rankings for third week of May
It's almost time for postseason softball. The pairings for the state tournament are scheduled to be released by the NJSIAA on Monday and play is slated to begin on Wednesday. The following are the last Mean 15 rankings until the final edition is published with the season-ending content in June.
Chargers Softball Falls to Allentown
SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School varsity softball team took on Allentown High School on Thursday in an out of conference game. Spotswood fell to Allentown 4-1. Gabrielle Hill and Hannah Graulich had the lone hits for the Chargers in the game. Graulich's single drove in Hill, who scored Spotswood's only run of the game. Ava Mormile took the loss on the mound for Spotswood. Mormile went the distance, pitching seven innings and giving up four runs on eight hits. The junior struck out nine. HAMILTON, NJ -- Nottingham scored six runs in the second inning and went on to a 10-5 baseball victory over West Windsor-Plainsboro North for the championship of the Mercer County Invitational on Thursday. Former Rutgers golfer Chris Gotterup wins first PGA Tour Event
Former Rutgers star and PGA Tour golfer Chris Gotterup made headlines on Sunday. The New Jersey native won the Myrtle Beach Classic, becoming the first Scarlet Knight in school history to win a PGA Tour event. Gotterup, who was with Rutgers from 2017-2020, finished 22 under par. Gotterup won the event by six strokes. For Gotterup, it was a performance he will never forget, as he won a $720,000 prize.
