    Chargers Softball Falls to Allentown

    SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School varsity softball team took on Allentown High School on Thursday in an out of conference game. Spotswood fell to Allentown 4-1. Gabrielle Hill and Hannah Graulich had the lone hits for the Chargers in the game. Graulich's single drove in Hill, who scored Spotswood's only run of the game.

    Ava Mormile took the loss on the mound for Spotswood. Mormile went the distance, pitching seven innings and giving up four runs on eight hits. The junior struck out nine. Braylie LaFisca picked up the victory for Allentown. LaFisca pitched 4.2 innings, giving up one run on two hits and striking out four. Nicole Infante came on in relief, pitching 2.1 innings and striking out six to earn the save. Angelina Minera, Holly Mani, Stella Logan, Riley Daly and Kyleigh Mihalik got hits for Allentown.

    Spotswood's loss dropped the team's overall season record to 18-6. The Chargers clinched back-to-back Greater Middlesex Conference White Division titles earlier this month. This is the third consecutive division championship for the Chargers.

    Spotswood has two regular season games remaining before the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group Two Tournament begins next week. The Chargers play Elizabeth High School on Friday. Elizabeth is 10-10. Game time is at 4:15 p.m. at School 28 in Elizabeth.
