    COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man was charged with four felonies after he allegedly fired six shots at another man on Sunday during a road rage incident.

Nathan Allen Griffin, 33, was charged on Monday with first-degree attempted assault, two counts of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. A court date has not been set.

According to the probable cause statement, one of the victims was in the passenger of the vehicle while his teenaged child was driving -- with a learner's permit -- west on Grindstone Parkway on Sunday, and another child was sitting in the back of the vehicle. The vehicle allegedly crossed an overpass when Griffin’s vehicle – a 2010 Nissan Xterrea – got off of southbound Highway 63 and got onto westbound Grindstone Parkway and almost hit the victim’s vehicle.

The statement claims Griffin allegedly sped up his vehicle and cut off the victim’s vehicle after passing it. The victim had told the child to pull into a parking lot in the 3200 block of Rock Quarry Road, and Griffin followed them, the statement says. The man in the victim vehicle got out of the car to separate himself from his children, in case Griffin became “confrontational,” the statement says.

Griffin drove the Nissan toward the victim before pulling out a gun and firing six shots at him, the statement says. Griffin then drove away and six shell casings were found by police, the statement says. One of the youth told law enforcement that Griffin’s vehicle had two stickers, one being a guitar and the other was a rainbow.

Video footage from Chinese Christian Church allegedly matched up with the statements the victims gave law enforcement, the statement says. Another police officer stated that a vehicle that matched the description of Griffin’s was allegedly involved in another road rage incident on Friday, the statement says. In that occurrence, Griffin allegedly pointed a gun at another person.

Griffin was eventually arrested during a traffic stop and police found a gun in the vehicle, the statement says.

Griffin allegedly admitted to shooting at the man and driving away, the statement says.
