Coffeyville City Commission meeting unveils new developments

COFFEYVILLE, Kan. — The recent Coffeyville City Commission meeting on Tuesday announced some new developments for the city and were recognized by a couple of people for making positive strides for the community.

A plaque was presented to the City of Coffeyville by Tara Lanzrath with the Kansas Department of Agriculture and Chris Parsons with FEMA for moving from a Class 9 to a Class 8 in the Community Ratings System in the National Flood Insurance Program.

Following the City's improvement in the ratings, residents with flood insurance will receive a 10% discount.

Coffeyville Mayor Alec Hendryx signed a proclamation that declared April 2024 Child Abuse Prevention Month in the city.

Jordan Lemos with Kansas Children's Service League and Healthy Families Kansas Program were at the meeting to raise awareness about child abuse prevention in the city. For more information on this, click here .

A resolution was passed to support the Court of Valor Project at Restlawn Cemetery. John Hufferd and Pete Olsen were also at the meeting and spoke about the proposed plan to improve the memorial in honor of Veterans.
