11 Ohio Sandwich Shops We’d Recommend To Anyone Who Takes Their Sandwiches Seriously
One Cleveland deli has been hand-trimming and steaming its corned beef in-house since 1964. Some of its sandwiches are piled so high that reports put the meat at over a pound. That detail alone tells me sandwich people in Ohio are not playing around. Another shop in Toledo names its...

‘We stick with Toledo’: Longtime restaurant owner opens new Lebanese restaurant
After a brief hiatus, a longtime Lebanese restaurant owner decided to step back into the business with a new restaurant in West Toledo. Joe Saadeh, who has owned the Grape Leaf Diner in Holland and most recently Muna Market on Monroe Street, which he sold in 2023, has opened Habibi’s Lebanese Kitchen, at 2930 ProMedica Pkwy. The Lebanese and Mediterranean eatery, which opened in mid-September, serves dishes like shish tawook, kafta kabobs, shawarma, hummus, baba ghanoush, falafel, toum, garlic potatoes, and dandelion salad. Though he’s cultivated some loyal customers over the years, Mr. Saadeh said Habib’s Lebanese Kitchen has seen many people just passing by. Many of those customers have taken to social media to give it praise, which he’s grateful for and has used to his advantage, he said. “I have not done any advertisement myself,” Mr. Saadeh said. “What you see is people that know me and people that came here and they saw and they ate and they did the advertisement themselves. Whenever I see something, I just share it on my own personal page. Customers, people, they advertise it for us.” Toledoan Laura Hollingshead Kutzli has been one of those advertisers. Though she’s only visited the

Eight Ohio Diners Locals Insist Make The Best Homestyle Meatloaf Dinner In Town

Once seized in a drug bust, Jimmy Buffett’s mixer gets new life
FREMONT – The next stop for Parrotheads could be the new Sounds of Sandusky County Museum at the Ohio Recording Company: It is the new home for Jimmy Buffett’s sound studio recording mixer. In addition to the Buffett connection, the mixer still features Drug Enforcement Administration evidence seizure stickers. Sounds of Sandusky County Museum Owner Brennan Willis is quick to point out that Buffett’s recording mixer was not seized by the DEA from Buffett’s secret recording studio, Shrimpboat Sound. Instead, agents took it from the man who bought the mixer from Buffett. The piece will be on display during the museum's opening day, Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. As any modern recording artist knows, the mixer is the technological heart of any studio. Controlled by the right editor, a mixer can be magical lighting in a bottle for a musician’s recordings, putting together all the voices and instruments that create a song. It was inheriting the mixer and the rest of Brownwood Studios from Bob Brown that started off the museum. Willis is a record editor, studio engineer, producer and basically the chief cook and bottle washer with his Ohio Recording Company studio. The building houses the Sounds of Sandusky

Hash Browns Hit The Flat-Top Before Dawn At Tony Packo’s? No, At Rick’s City Diner In Toledo
Toledo has plenty of famous names, and a few of them get all the attention when people talk about where to eat in this corner of Ohio. Yet some of the busiest grills in town belong to places that never make the postcards, where the potatoes start sizzling just as the city wakes up and the coffee cups come out big enough to need two hands.

New sports bar, restaurant opens at Huron Yards in downtown Toledo
Toledo city and business leaders celebrated a new sports bar and restaurant in downtown Toledo Thursday. Owner Mike Stancati, who also owns Hannon’s Block Restaurant around the corner, smiled as he, Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz, and others cut the ribbon on the Station Sports Bar at 28 N. Erie St., which is in Alleyway Toledo’s old space, in the Huron Yards development. “I felt momentum in downtown Toledo about six years ago when we started Hannon’s Block,” Mr. Stancanti said. “Today, I can honestly say that we’ve seen that momentum turn into something really special down here. Between the focus on development, the growing population, and strong leadership, there are more reasons and ways for people to enjoy downtown than before.” Matt Rubin and Julia Randles, who are principals at Crane Development in Toledo, property developer for the Huron Yards, said the new bar and restaurant adds to the many places to visit downtown. “Our vision is to take these historic buildings, to breathe life into them, [through] homes, businesses, artists, and places to eat and gather and preserve their character and to connect people to downtown in ways that they have not been connected previously,” Mr. Rubin said. Oak Harbor father writes children's book about Down syndrome
OAK HARBOR, Ohio — An Ottawa County father has published a children’s book inspired by his 6-year-old daughter to help young readers understand Down syndrome. Jason Ribby’s book, Maizie the Down Syndrome Diva and the Search for Her Extra Chromosome , introduces kids to Down syndrome — typically associated with an extra copy of chromosome 21 — as she searches for the chromosome that makes her unique. Readers can join the hunt for balls, bubbles, and a Down syndrome ribbon. “I wrote the book to celebrate Maizie and to help children understand Down syndrome in a simple, positive way,” said Mr. Ribby, of Oak Harbor. The book, published in August, offers families a cheerful starting point for celebrating differences and talking with children about Down syndrome. Colorful illustrations and gentle humor encourage kindness, confidence, and inclusion. “I wanted it to be bright, fun and engaging, with rhymes and little things to find, so kids could learn while enjoying the story,” he said. The book is available at a.co/d/00340Rmu .
