Silly snow map season is starting, and one map already making the rounds online shows huge snow totals across the Mid-Atlantic by mid-December. The map comes from the European extended ensemble, often called the Euro Weeklies. It is a 1,104-hour forecast, which works out to 46 days into the future. Snow totals that far out are not a reliable forecast and should be treated as entertainment at best.

MARYLAND — Rain turned out to be more than just spotty showers in Baltimore on Thursday night, with a narrow band of rain moving through during the football game. Radar at 8:45 p.m. showed a conveyor belt of rain stretching from northern Virginia through Columbia and Baltimore toward Elkton. Temperatures stayed near 70 degrees, unusually warm for November, and stronger storms were expected to build overnight into Friday morning.

Stop me if you heard this before: We are going to get rain, but the final totals will be lower than first thought. I get it, and I see it too. Last week it looked like Low Pressure would form off the southeast coast and get pulled in. Then it was just the cold front.. well, the low is no longer part of the equation, and now we are simply watching a cold front that pulsed to our west and will stall briefly just to our east.
