CLERMONT — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has identified the man who drowned May 13 when he and another person jumped from a boat to go swimming.

David Arenas, 64, of Clermont, was with four other people on a 19-foot Bayliner on Lake Minneola at 3 p.m. when he and the other person decided to go swimming.

    Arenas did not resurface.

Members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office dive team recovered the man’s body at 6:45 pm. The Clermont Police Department also aided in the search.

Lake County Fire Rescue transported the other man to South Lake Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation. Arenas’ body has been turned over to the Fifth Circuit Medical Examiner’s Office.
