Clemson’s Bakich Calls for Change to Make DKS ‘Rowdy’

CLEMSON — Erik Bakich wishes Clemson would sell beer at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, and he would like to see the famous Cajun Café in right field become a regular restaurant that serves Clemson fans all year long.

“Not to spill any trade secrets, but those are things we talked about internally here,” Clemson’s head baseball coach said Sunday.

Bakich was asked about the Cajun Café and what it means to Clemson Baseball following the fourth-ranked Tigers’ 9-3 win over Georgia Tech.

“I always joke. If I ever get ejected, that is where I am going,” he said. “But it is great. I wish we sold beer. This place would get even more rowdy. It is a rowdy section. It gives us energy.

“We hear them, feel it and love it. I think there is another whole level of growth in the Cajun Café. I would love to see the Cajun Café be a twelve-month a year restaurant that serves the Clemson Community right out there. Still have the VIP area for the original people that started it.”

The Cajun Café, which is considered a private club, started in the early 2000’s, which was originally part of the “Cheap Seats.”
