CHARLOTTE, N.C. — No. 3 Clemson earned its 24th comeback win of the 2024 season on Friday, when the Tigers rallied from a 6-0 deficit to defeat Louisville, 8-7, in the ACC Tournament at Truist Field.

Clemson’s Jimmy Obertop tied the game with a three-run home run in the eighth inning, then worked a walk-off walk in the ninth to improve the Tigers’ record to 41-14, while the Cardinals fell to 32-24.

Louisville head coach Dan McDonnell met with the media following the game. He spoke about the tough loss for his squad while also giving Clemson plenty of credit and praising the Tiger team.

“I’m somewhat relieved that we’re out of the ACC regular season and the tournament. Just the competition’s been unbelievable this year. What a grind,” McDonnell said. “We just lost to what everybody feels like is a national seed because of their ability to finish. Gosh, it’s so hard we lost the game like that. … They just kept coming back, coming back, coming back.”

“That’s a special team,” McDonnell added. “Obviously they’ve got talent, but there’s something when you can finish the way they finish.”
